Positive Behaviour Practitioner

About the Role

Our specialist team of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioners is growing! Join a dedicated team who are passionate about changing lives through the holistic lens of positive behaviour support. We will support allied health professionals on their journey to becoming an approved PBS Practitioner, through our PBS Academy.

Our PBS Academy is a six-month internship including education delivered by an experienced PBS practitioner, access to an established PBS Supervisory Framework and assistance with the self-assessment process.

Being a PBS Practitioner with the Association will enable you to provide PBS to individuals and their families, including undertaking functional behaviour assessments and developing behaviour support plans. Choose whether to focus on PBS or balance a PBS and clinical caseload, providing therapy as an occupational therapist, speech pathologist, social worker or psychologist, according to your qualifications.

In addition, in this role you will be supported to:

  • Develop strong and rewarding relationships with individuals and families
  • Problem solve alongside our Multidisciplinary Team through ongoing learning
  • Develop an excellent understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, restrictive practices and writing and evaluating positive behaviour support plans
  • Establish a strong knowledge of NDIS Capability Framework and best practice regarding positive behaviour support
  • We’re keen to support new PBS Practitioners but if you are already endorsed we would love to hear from you. Core Practitioners with a clinical background who are looking to progress will be supported to achieve Proficient registration.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role will be a highly organised, values driven individual with excellent communication skills and dedication to human rights.

Additional requirements for the role include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Allied Health, including Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Social Workers or related qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all stakeholders e.g., individuals, families, and support staff
  • Demonstrated high level planning and time management skills
  • Please note that the next round of internships through the Positive Behaviour Support Academy will start on Monday 1st June.
  • Registration as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner is not essential as we will support successful candidates to achieve this. However, PBS Practitioners who are already endorsed are encouraged to apply.
  • To join our team you will be required to complete required clearances including a NDIS Workers Check.
