Overnight Youth Residential Support Worker

Our Youth Residential Support Workers provide safe, consistent and nurturing care to children and young people with Autism, some of whom have experienced trauma, in a 24/7 residential setting.

As an Active Overnight Support Worker, you will provide a calm, supportive and responsive presence to a young person who experiences sleeplessness and remains awake during the night. You will support the young person throughout the shift by monitoring their safety and wellbeing, responding to their needs, and building a trusting and positive relationship through open, empathetic communication and consistency.

Please note: This is an active overnight role and not a sleepover position. The successful candidate will be required to remain awake from 10:00pm to 6:00am and be actively engaged throughout the entire shift, providing supervision, support and companionship to a young person who is awake during the night.

What Does the Roster Look Like?

You'll work 7 overnight shifts across a fortnight on a fixed and predictable two-week rotation. In Week 1, you'll work five shifts, including the weekend. In Week 2, you'll work Wednesday and Thursday nights only, giving you every second weekend off and five consecutive nights off each fortnight.
