About the Role

The successful applicant will work within a small team of Registered Nurses to support clinical governance of the medication, health and medical support needs of individuals accessing our services to optimise their wellbeing and minimise poor health outcomes.  

 

Roles and Responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing clinical support and advice to our staff, allowing them to safely support adults with Autism who have additional medical conditions or complex health needs. The clinical support and advice provided occasionally needs to target the support needs of children with Autism
  • Providing occasional direct clinical care to adult individuals accessing our services within the scope of a Registered Nurse’s practice (wound care, blood pressure surveillance etc)
  • Reviewing and updating organisational policies, procedures and other internal documents that guide our staff in their work
  • Developing and delivering regular Medical Conditions (including HIDPA) training for our staff
  • Conducting client and service specific audits to measure current practice against organisational policies and NDIS Practice Standards
  • Providing clinical consultancy to the Work, Health and Safety team about infection Prevention and Control considerations

About You

 

We are looking for a self-motivated Registered Nurse may who has excellent stakeholder engagement skills, a practical approach to problem solving and attention to detail. You’ll have a good understanding of current best practice health advice for a variety of common health conditions or a well-developed ability to source high quality, evidence-based information to guide your management.

 

You must be an AHPRA Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience.

 

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Well-developed clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills
  • Clinical nursing experience and skills that are transferable to the community-based disability sector
  • Effective communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency using a variety of information technology systems and applications
  • Previous clinical experience supporting people with disability is highly regarded
  • Previous experience with delivering small group training is highly regarded
