Work Health & Safety Business Partner

About the Role

The WHS Business Partner will support the WHS Manager by undertaking routine WHS requirements whilst promoting and encouraging a safe working culture and environment for all employees. This role will engage and work proactively with stakeholders to develop relationships and build WHS capability across the organisation.

Duties include:

Monitoring the Association’s WHS Hazard and Incident Management System by:

  • Identifying trends and reviewing control measures for effectiveness
  • Collaborating with data analytics to develop and maintain the Managers WHS Power BI Dashboard
  • Lead incident investigations using root cause methodology to produce investigation reports with agreed corrective actions to address findings
  • Conduct assurance activities to review WHS risks and evaluate compliance against WHS legislation and relevant codes of practice
  • Draft, review and revise WHS policies and procedures which support the Association to meet its obligations and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and deliver WHS education and awareness through both formal training and on-the-job coaching and mentoring
  • Implement risk assessment processes on psychosocial, ergonomic, hazardous chemicals, emergency response and other workplace risks to ensure control measures are identified, implemented and reviewed.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance on the application of WHS legislation and the Autism Association’s WHS policies and procedures in alignment with industry-specific leading practices
  • Facilitate and manage ergonomic assessments and requests
  • Manage and maintain emergency response requirements for the Association in alignment with WHS and NDIS requirements
  • Maintain the Association’s chemical management system ChemWatch.
  • Complete Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)

About You

In this role, you will ideally have:

  • 5 years’ experience in a similar Work Health and Safety role
  • Lead Auditor experience (desirable)
  • Relevant knowledge of WHS legislation and related practices
  • Understanding of the principles of a WHS Management System
  • Understanding of legislative requirements for emergency response management, asbestos management and contractor management and contractor management
  • Experience in developing and delivering WHS Training content
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Motivated to deliver a high standard of customer service.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ensures currency of knowledge.
