Residential Support Worker - Full Time

About the Role 

We’re looking for a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join a small, caring team providing support to a 25-year-old man with Down’s Syndrome and autism. He is a gentle soul who communicates primarily through non-verbal means and thrives on routine, kindness, and connection. Residential Support Workers will be required to work a 24 hour roster pattern.   The roster rotates over a 3-week period and will be discussed further at interview.

Our Residential Support Workers make a positive difference in the lives of the adults residing in shared homes by assisting them to live the life they choose, including daily activities such as hobbies, personal care and domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning and maintaining a home.  Residential Support Workers are also responsible for keeping up to date client records and administration tasks. 

 

About You 

  • Are you a compassionate and experienced support worker looking for an opportunity to have an impact on someone's life?  
  • Requirements for the role:  
  • Motivation to provide care and advocate for others 
  • Previous experience with autism and or down’s syndrome is ideal, but training will be provided 
  • Meal Preparation and cooking 
  • Experience providing personal care needs ensuring dignity 
  • Ability to swim  
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills 
  • Patient and calm during challenging situations  
  • Vigilant and observant with sound decision making and problem-solving skills 
  • Experienced working with complex communication needs, and use of an Alternative Augmented Communication (AAC). 
  • Commitment to maintaining routines and consistency  
  • Full driver's licence without P plates
